Zone Audio Update
Dynacord boosts V Series Zone Audio Platform with more features
Dynacord’s V Series Zone Audio Platform is a self-contained, cost-effective solution for commercial installations, reliably handling background music, paging and messaging with maximum ease of use. At its core sits an audio processor, joined by dedicated call stations, wall panel controllers, power amplifiers and a web app for fast, straightforward setup. Designed for hospitality venues, retail environments, corporate buildings, houses of worship and more, the platform now benefits from a major upgrade. Version 2.0 spans both the device firmware of the VZX-8 8-Zone Audio Processor and the VZX Web App. Centered on automation, usability and flexibility, the new firmware gives installers and end users far deeper control over their multi-zone sound systems, while making day-to-day operation noticeably simpler for the staff who run them.
Advanced Scheduling
At the core of version 2.0 is a new advanced scheduler. This powerful, calendar-based tool automates messages, bells, scenes and system actions, supporting event, recurring, one-shot and full day event types. It is an essential feature for venues that rely on precise daily routines, from retail opening sequences to scheduled announcements and the fixed chimes of an educational setting. Once programmed, content plays exactly when it should, with no one needing to be on site or to trigger anything manually.
Significantly Expanded Action Engine and Multi-zone Scenes
Complementing the scheduler, the action engine has grown from three to 13 action types. These additions hand installers far more building blocks for media, muting, zone levels, scenes and scheduling, and each can be triggered from wherever it makes sense in the venue: the scheduler, GPIO, the VCS-8 Call Station, the VWP Wall Panel Controller or the API. The result is an audio system that adapts to exactly how a site works, instead of forcing the team to work around the technology. New multi-zone scenes reinforce this: a single action instantly recalls a complete configuration of levels, sources and mute states, so switching a site from daytime background music to an evening event takes one touch rather than adjusting each zone by hand, saving time and removing the risk of inconsistent settings.
New Virtual Controller Interface
The latest release also introduces the Virtual Controller Interface, a mobile-friendly, web-based control option for end users. Accessed by scanning a QR code and protected by a PIN, it lets non-technical staff operate the system from their own phone or tablet, with no dedicated hardware required. The PIN keeps the wider configuration safe from accidental changes, built-in audit logging gives managers a clear record of who adjusted what, and direct scheduler access puts daily routines at the user’s fingertips.
Further refinements
A range of further refinements adds real-world practicality. Media and message playback becomes more flexible, with toggle behavior, infinite playback options and full transport controls, making it easy to handle anything from all-day background loops to one-touch announcements. New DSP tools such as EQ flatten and polarity invert, together with smoother clock management and factory reset processes, cut commissioning and servicing time for installers. Accessory integration has improved, too. The VWP Wall Panel Controller and VCS-8 Call Station got expanded capabilities, including VWP action triggering, better VCS-8 PTT (push-to-talk) override behavior and new talk button actions, putting more control right at the point of use. Faster message start times and other improvements make the platform feel more responsive and dependable in everyday use, giving operators added peace of mind.
The new firmware v 2.0 will be available as a free update at Dynacord’s homepage from June 18, 2026.
