Top Scores for Australian Universities
This year’s AMX Innovations Awards drew a record 46 entries from seven countries – including four Australian finalists. The awards ceremony was held in Las Vegas in conjunction with the UBTech Conference last month, with winners in five categories:
Simulation or Medical Learning Space (the most innovative use of automation and control systems in collaborative simulation environments): University of Western Australia
Sustainability Initiative (the most innovative and cost-effective, sustainable practice in higher education): University of Queensland
Classroom Automation (the most innovative use of automation and control systems in classrooms): Shenandoah University
Collaboration (the most innovative collaboration practices in higher education): University of Minnesota
Alternative Learning Spaces (the most innovative technology implementation in a non-traditional learning space): University of Ottawa
People’s Choice Innovation Award (new category voted by attendees at UBTech for the most relevant automation and control solution from the remaining finalists): University of Hawaii
Charles Sturt University and the University of Sydney made the finalists list, while winner University of Western Australia is also a nominee for the upcoming 2014 AVIAs and featured in AV issue 33 here.
Each winner in the five categories received bragging rights and US$25,000 in AMX hardware and software products as well as AMX’s Enzo cloud-based presentation system. The international awards programme was established in January 2011 to recognise innovative higher education technology accomplishments and practices worldwide, and are run by UBTech, the trade conference arm of University Business magazine, and sponsored by AMX and the Global Education Alliance.
