AVIAS REBOOT KICKS OFF
Thanks to everyone who was a part of the AVIAs 2019 reboot. For those who drank the free beer and ate the free food at the ceremony at the conclusion of Day 1 of Integrate… Thanks. There were more than 200 industry pros who attended to cheer on their colleagues and counterparts.
The AVIAs colocated with the AVIXA Oceania awards and it was an appropriate marriage — AVIXA celebrating individual achievement and the AVIAs recognising excellent and innovative work done in the past calendar year.
Congratulations to this year’s finalists — all were very worthy — and the line up of high quality submissions made for a great contest and a showcase of world’s best practice.
Now’s the time to already be considering what you might want to submit for next year’s AVIAs. Remember: winning submissions have proved over the years to be those that show next-level ingenuity. In other words, ‘bigger’ doesn’t always have to be ‘better’.

BEST COMMERCIAL/GOV PROJECT
This most fiercely fought category saw Parity take the honours with a new wing of the Victorian Parliament building. Critical Room Solutions also gets a nod.
BEST EDUCATION AV
Pro AV Solutions beat out strong competition with the gob smacking LED Sphere at QUT.
BEST AV PRODUCTION OR EVENT
The Electric Canvas’ video production at the Commonwealth Games was a unanimous victor.
BEST EXHIBITION OR DISPLAY
Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa take another gong back of the ditch for its wonderful Te Taiao Nature Exhibition.
BEST DIGITAL SIGNAGE
New category won by ENGIE for the mesmerising ribbon of signage at Melbourne Airport’s Carousel 8.
EXCEPTIONAL INNOVATION AWARD
Judges felt compelled to make a special award to Novatech for its out of the box approach to providing PA at the Santos Tour Down Under.
