Exertis ProAV pull up stumps in Australia.

Reports have come through that Exertis ProAV has pulled out of the Australian market after the closure of its national office. As a consequence, the cascade of company reshuffling has begun with the British assistive hearing technology company, Contacta, having announced a partnership with AVW Group.

On the possible cause for this decision, a former partner of Exertis Pro AV Australia told AV Magazine, “There’s an algorithm that they apply to these things and if you’re not making X per cent per year, or not making X per cent per headcount, then it’s not seen as a viable business. It’s a shame because the brand has a global presence but it was barely recognised by anybody in our industry in Australia.”

This is a tectonic-plate shift in the industry — and for the global distribution giant — with a range of high profile names in the company’s portfolio now looking for new alliances within Australia and New Zealand. No word, as yet, on the direction that companies such as Christie Digital, Leyard and Planar, Unilumin, ATEN, Clear Touch, Hisense, Revolution Acoustics, Taiden, and TrilbyTV might take in the search for new representation. Our eyes will be peeled for further developments.
