About the role
We are currently recruiting for an Audio Visual Engineer within Cloud & Infrastructure. This role encompasses both HEW 6 and HEW 7 levels, providing an opportunity for the candidate to move from 6 to 7 based on experience and demonstrated capability.
The Audio Visual Engineer is responsible for providing technical solutions and support to ensure the University’s Audio Visual (AV) infrastructure is reliable, up to date and aligned with the needs of teaching, learning and collaboration across the University. They are accountable for the efficient and smooth operation of AV systems and maintaining a high level of customer focus to enhance overall system optimisation and reliability.
The role supports prototyping and testing, design and implementation, maintenance and management of AV systems and services across UTS. The AV Engineer works collaboratively with internal stakeholders including AV Operations and AV Enablement and cross-functional IT teams. The AV engineer also performs contractor coordination duties across AV projects with external vendors to deliver effective AV outcomes and customer support.
At HEW 07 level, the role will draw on extensive experience to provide solutions to complex issues and will have a higher level of accountability for the smooth operation and advancement of AV systems and UTS.
About You
As the Audio Visual Engineer, you will:
- Install, test, configure and support Audio Visual (AV) systems and equipment across the University to ensure reliable teaching, learning and meeting experiences.
- Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and fault resolution activities within service level agreements, to ensure AV systems operate effectively and minimise downtime.
- Provide high-quality technical support and customer service to staff and stakeholders using AV technologies across a range of environments.
- Work closely with the AV operations team to perform problem management and ticket resolution.
- Use monitoring systems and support platforms including working closely with third party vendors and other external stakeholders to resolve issues.
- Proactively identify issues, coordinate repairs and maintain AV system performance and reliability.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement, documentation and optimisation of AV systems, processes and services across the University.

HEW 06
- Demonstrated experience in a similar AV support or engineering role, including the installation, configuration and support of AV systems and equipment
- Strong understanding of AV technology including audio, video and control systems, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively
- Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality customer service and technical support to users with varying levels of technical capability
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
Applicants seeking consideration at HEW 07 level should additionally address the following criteria:
- Proven experience troubleshooting and contributing to AV prototyping and testing, system design, programming, DSP or configuration activities within a large and complex environment
- Demonstrated experience mentoring staff, contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and coordinating more complex AV support activities

Remuneration & Benefits
This position is full-time appointment and will be offered on a continuing basis.
Base Salary Range:
HEW 6: $98,792 to $106,966 pa
HEW 7: $109,014 to $120,596 pa
This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary.
