Due to an increase in activity across the performing arts sector, Hewshott’s Perth office is seeking to expand our team with the appointment of a theatre consultant.
The right candidate will be given every opportunity to grow and advance their career. You will be exposed to some of the best minds in the industry across Broadcast, AV, IT and Acoustics.
You will have a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working in a live theatre/concert hall environment and are seeking to move from operations to a design role.
You will be working under the supervision of an experienced lead consultant and interacting with the company’s AV/IT and Acoustic consultants. You will be helping our clients as they embark on the design and construction of performance spaces and theatre production environments throughout the Perth metropolitan area.
Working under the guidance of an experienced consultant, typical tasks that you would be involved in supporting include:
- Design works in lighting, sound and talkback comms
- Design of on-stage and back-stage facilities and services such as drapes, cyclorama, and stage manager positions
- Control room layouts, and large-format screens including projected images and LED videowalls
- Cameras for streaming, recording and relay within the space
- Front of House video and audio systems
- Theatre planning to include props, staging, and instrument storage, green rooms, change rooms, general layouts and proximity to the stage for access
- Infrastructure such as network, video and audio circuits, CCTV, monitoring

To work at Hewshott, you must have:
- Working rights in Australia.
- Current drivers licence.
- At least 3 years’ experience in the theatre/concert hall or live events industry.
- A healthy can-do attitude, a solid work ethic; hunger for learning and growth.
- Very good client engagement and written communications skills.
We would prefer you to have CAD and/or REVIT experience, however we can provide some training to a suitable candidate.
