PHONUM

At this year’s ISE, Beyerdynamic is introducing Phonum, an intelligent audio solution for the modern meeting culture. The compact, portable battery-operated speakerphone uses a downfire loudspeaker that radiates the sound across the table surface, thereby distributing it optimally throughout the room. Phonum also utilises Beyerdynamic’s exclusive Voice Compass technology to draw attention to the spoken word. Phonum improves the quality of the audio transmission and the communication effectiveness.

Beyerdynamic’s Phonum’s speakerphone can be set up quickly and easily in any room and connected effortlessly via Bluetooth or USB to a smartphone or computer. This enables meetings to be held without large conference rooms and complex, fixed communications systems — spontaneously, quickly, creatively and with the team in mind.

With Voice Compass, Phonum is able to identify the speaker’s position in the room and focus the audio capture process on this person. The result is perfect transmission of the spoken word while eliminating echo and background noise, ensuring faultless intelligibility even in acoustically-challenging spaces.

Phonum is barely bigger than the palm of your hand, and can thus be carried effortlessly from room to room or be taken with you on the road. Bluetooth connectivity means Phonum can be connected to smartphones, tablets or computers completely cable-free. You can also connect using a USB C cable if required. A power connection is not even necessary: Phonum can be powered with its integrated rechargeable battery, and with up to 15 hours speaking time it offers more than enough time for longer meetings. During USB operation, the system sources its power directly from the data port. Phonum can be set up in seconds and thereby opens up whole new possibilities for decentralised teams when it comes to quick and efficient discussions.

UNITE

Beyerdynamic’s new Unite is a digital wireless tour guide communication system. A versatile range of components, simple setup and DSP control to optimise speech intelligibility make Unite the perfect solution for many different scenarios.

A special feature of the Unite system is the talkback function – the ability to speak into the system itself using a receiver. This makes for significantly more modern guided tours, as visitors can ask questions and interact with the tour guide and other visitors. Guest speakers can also be seamlessly integrated using Unite – up to three people can speak at any one time. Even the use of whisper interpreters, who provide simultaneous translation of the main speaker, is easy to achieve.

Unite functions digitally and is thus practically noiseless. Speech intelligibility has been perfected by means of an integrated audio processor. This results not only in an optimised frequency curve for the right sound, but also in a consistent volume thanks to the Automatic Level Control. Noise cancelling means unwanted background noise is actively and effectively blocked out.

Beyerdynamic Unite is suitable for both smaller setups as well as large systems. Over 32 groups can be provided for in parallel. Here Unite itself configures frequency distribution to guarantee reliable transmission. Thanks to the wide operating range and the high-performance long-life rechargeable batteries, the system is particularly resistant to outages. DECT standard ensures use of Unite without approval or licence fees, meaning it can be used almost anywhere.

A handheld transmitter provides a traditional starting point for the speaker. Free up the speaker’s hands by using a bodypack transmitter together with a neckworn microphone. There are several options for listeners, too, along with the normal Unite RP bodypack receiver, the Unite RP-T with its talkback function supports the interaction of the audience and speaker. Headphones, single-ear headphones or an induction neckloop for visitors with hearing aids or cochlea implants are available for signal playback.

The Unite system is also capable of connection to other audio sources. This allows music players or pre-produced speech recordings to be seamlessly connected either from analogue sources, via USB or even via Bluetooth. AES-256 encryption also make Unite tap-proof.
