COMMUNITY IV6 SYSTEM COMES TO HILLS
The new I Series Modular Vertical Array 600 (IV6) vertical array system from Community Professional Loudspeakers is now available from Australian distributor Hills.
With its passive optimisation and scalable design, the IV6 brings a simplified, modular approach to complex audio installations. Designed for indoor or outdoor applications, the IV6 offers an adaptable line array solution for almost any installation.
Hill CEO, David Lenz, said the demand for the Community Professional Loudspeakers had grown by 40% in FY17, with a number of recent project wins across the country including the WestConnex tunnel in Sydney, Crown Promenade in Melbourne and the Morphettville Racecourse in Adelaide.
“The IV6 represents a real advancement in speaker design at price point currently unavailable in the ANZ market. We’re excited to add it to our range of Community products,” Lenz said.
The IV6 is a scalable, adaptive sound reinforcement system featuring multiple vertically arrayable elements, designed to be used in combination or separately, with or without splay between cabinets, and providing an extensive range of vertical coverage angle and throw distance configurations. Two carefully chosen array elements, 120° x 5° and 120° x 15°, overcome the physical limitations and acoustical tuning difficulties of conventional line arrays and constant-curvature (point source) arrays while maintaining the best qualities of each.
“Community manufacture a wide range of high performance speakers that offer exceptional sound quality and are a perfect fit with our existing portfolio,” Lenz said. “They’re focused on the same installation markets as Hills – stadiums, hotels and retail, hospitality and tourist venues, hospitals and public buildings – and we’re confident that the launch of the IV6 will see us gain further traction in these verticals,” Lenz said.
This year Community Professional Loudspeakers celebrates 50 years of providing innovative loudspeaker solutions. Founded in 1968 by Bruce Howze, Community unashamedly focuses on performance in the midrange – where voice intelligibility lives. The company’s list of references is impressive, from Elvis Presley touring with Community’s Leviathan in the ‘70s to supplying public address systems for the world’s largest annual gathering of people in Mecca.
Performance and intelligibility continue to be the company’s top priority. “There’s been a trend among loudspeaker manufacturers to overlook intelligibility in favour of the ‘wow’ factor of big bass,” Howze observes. “That sort of misses the point that all the critical information is in the midrange. If you don’t get that right, the rest of it doesn’t mean a thing.”
Community CEO, Steve Johnson said that Community would continue to innovate with new products, like the IV6, to exceed the industry’s expectations.
“We’re excited to have Hills as our distribution partner in Australia and New Zealand, and we look forward to strengthening our position in the market through the expertise and experience Hills brings to this channel,” he said.
Hills is planning industry events throughout March to showcase the superior sound quality and coverage of the IV6 in a real-world environment.
