Polycom Asia Pacific has appointed Ingram Micro as its new distribution partner for Australia and New Zealand. The appointment is part of Polycom’s plans to strengthen its distribution network within the region. The move will also see a greater emphasis on creating cloud-based solutions offered by Polycom ecosystem partners including Microsoft.

Tony Simonsen, Managing Director, Polycom Australia & New Zealand said: “Digital transformation and the ability to create a workplace of the future today, is a key focus for our customers – large, medium and small – throughout ANZ. Ingram Micro understands this and, more importantly, where our solutions fit within this mix.”

Ingram Micro and Polycom will work closely together to create value-added, bundled packages for channel partners and customers, including cloud providers’ services such as Microsoft.

Commenting on the appointment, Felix Wong, Chief Country Executive, Ingram Micro ANZ, added: “Channel partners will see tremendous value in how Ingram Micro plans to build the Polycom portfolio across ANZ. Hardware as a Service (HaaS) is just one area of focus. It is effectively bundling Polycom products with cloud-based solutions offered via OPEX-friendly terms.”

Mark Braxton, Director of Distribution, Polycom ANZ, said: “Polycom has been a leader in the voice and video conferencing market across ANZ. Our go-to-market plan will see us focus on unlocking more opportunities with Polycom’s ecosystem partners – Microsoft being top of the list. Ingram Micro has the in-depth industry knowledge and experience to help us achieve our goals and keep our leadership title.”

Last month, Jeff Rodman, Polycom’s Co-Founder and Chief Evangelist addressed customers and partners at the Polycom Innovation Conference in Sydney, with New Zealand channel partners and customers joining via video.

In other Polycom news, the company has unveiled new videoconferencing solutions headlined by a new customisable immersive Telepresence experience and a new camera with advanced video production features to make your virtual meetings feel more in-person than ever.

The Polycom Immersive Studio Flex can be customised to your space and budget and offers Microsoft Skype for Business at affordable cost. The system combines high definition audio and an 18ft videowall with three UltraHD display screens.

But that’s not all. The Polycom EagleEye Director II camera changes your video conferencing experience from the awkward ‘bowling alley’ view to a professionally produced video meeting when combined with Polycom Group Series video room systems. Without the need to manually adjust or to use a remote, the camera automatically zooms in on and frames the active speaker from up to 32ft in less than three seconds, panning out when the discussion includes more than one person. A unique picture-in-picture display of the room means you see the reactions and body language of everyone in the room while you’re focused on the speaker.

The camera runs on the new Polycom Group Series 6.1 release, the engine that drives Polycom’s industry-leading voice and video technology.
