ISE: Unencumbered Language
Expanded functionality makes ListenTALK system more versatile
ListenTalk lets users communicate in any environment while maintaining a safe, physical distance. A recent firmware update showcased at ISE enhances the system’s versatility and makes it easier for interpreters to provide simultaneous language interpretation.
The ListenTalk system features a small transceiver (combination transmitter/receiver) that users wear on a lanyard around their neck, accompanied by venue-provided or their own headphones or earbuds with built-in mic. Users hear audio through the headphones or earbuds and press and hold a button on the transceiver to speak to the leader or group. Interpreters can use it to listen to audio in one language and speak the words in another language without having to carry additional equipment.
Sam Nord, VP of global sales at Listen Technologies said, “ListenTalk simplifies group communication and solves the challenges of hearing loss, face coverings, distance, background noise, and language that hinder engagement. Customers appreciate the sound clarity, ease of use and versatility of ListenTalk. It can be used for assistive listening and to support language interpretation in houses of worship, classrooms, courtrooms, boardrooms, manufacturing plants, at trade shows, and on tours.”
Interpreters can use one ListenTalk unit to hear a presenter’s message in their headset and speak the translated words (simultaneous interpretation) to their audience using the same unit hands-free. Listeners in the interpreter’s group can hear in their preferred language translated from the original source.
