Panasonic has introduced the new three-model PT-RZ970 Series of 1-chip, DLPTM Solid Shine compact laser phosphor projectors. It builds on the features and technology of the PT-RZ760 Series but sports 1.5 times more brightness and improved picture quality. The PT-RZ970 is engineered for maintenance-free long-haul operation. It features an airtight optical engine block that meets the industry’s most stringent dustproofing standards as well as dual solid-state laser modules to maintain high brightness with no maintenance for up to 20,000 hours. With 10,000 lumens (centre) brightness, the three models in the series only vary in resolution (WUXGA, WXGA, XGA).

Chris Maw, Product Marketing Manager, Projectors, Panasonic, said: “The Panasonic PT- RZ970 Series laser projectors incorporate cutting-edge technology to achieve vibrant picture quality and high 10,000:1 contrast ratio. These filter-less projectors are essentially dust-proof, and are subjected to punishing tests to ensure flawless long-term performance and low total cost of ownership (TCO), from lecture halls to museums. The PT-RZ970 Series also conveniently shares optional lenses with Panasonic’s 1-Chip DLPTM projector family.”

Together with a Digital Link single-cable connection and shared lenses for 1-Chip DLPTM projectors, these features keep TCO to a minimum. Digital Link enables video and control signal transmission for up to 150m in Long Reach Mode when used together with Panasonic’s optional ET-YFB200G Digital Link Switcher.

The projectors also include a new high-speed backup input that switches almost instantly to a backup if the primary signal fails. Additionally, in spaces where full brightness is not required, a selection of long-life modes are available to extend light source life to up to 10 years of continuous 24/7 operation.

To achieve a contrast ratio of 10,000:1, the PT-RZ970 Series features a Dynamic Contrast function that quickly and precisely modulates light source output according to image requirements, resulting in deeper blacks even when dark and bright scenes frequently interchange. Detail, colour performance, and perceived resolution are enhanced with Panasonic’s Detail Clarity Processor 3, System Daylight View 2, and Rec. 709 modes.

The compact PT-RZ970 Series is designed to be installation-friendly, with free 360° cabinet rotation and wide-range powered lens shift with keystone correction and built-in geometric adjustment.
