TANNOY AMS ARCHITECTURAL
Tannoy’s new AMS series loudspeakers have been engineered to produce a sonic characteristic matched to the company’s CMS 3.0 ceiling loudspeaker launched last summer, thus providing a venue-wide install sound solution. Comprising a range of seven models ranging in three form factors from 5-inch to 8-inch, the AMS series looks good, with their elegantly styled moulded enclosures and custom colours available on special order. Additionally the new AMS models have undergone some punishing environmental testing, achieving an IP65 rating, which is among the highest in the industry for outdoor use and challenging environments. UUMW ICT driver versions are also available for mission critical voice alarm system applications.
Key to the AMS design is Tannoy’s Omnimagnet technology and a Torus Ogive Waveguide device, together designed to produce a more consistent and controlled directivity along with improved high frequency response, as well as much improved time alignment and greater coherence between the low frequency and high frequency drivers.
The AMS range utilises a 16Ω driver, making it suited to use in high performance low-impedance systems (with optimised performance when used in conjunction with Lab.gruppen LUCIA amplifiers). Alternatively, for constant voltage systems, Tannoy have specified as standard, high quality low-insertion loss transformers with variable tap settings.
