SunBriteTV has been at it for over 20 years. Back in late 2004, SunBriteTV launched its first product: a true all‑weather outdoor television, designed to operate safely and reliably in rain, dust, humidity, UV, insects, and temperature extremes. It’s been sticking to its guns ever since, producing a full portfolio of durable TVs for all kinds of conditions and exposure to sun.

New to SunBriteTV is the Solis series, which takes over as the brightest TV in the range – designed to thrive in full sun. Where most displays max out at 500 nits, Solis is rated to 1500 nits.

FOR THE W

Solis can go harder, thanks to a RGB-W panel, with the white subpixels contributing to a brighter image, without contributing much extra to power consumption and heat generation.

Speaking of heat (and cold), Solis is rated to operate reliably from zero to 50°C  and can survives non-operational storage extremes down to a frosty minus 31°C or up to 60°C.

Another hot feature of note is Quarter-Wave Plate polarisation anti‑glare optics or QWP.

QWP reduces reflections and maintains contrast – even when wearing polarised sunglasses or viewing off-axis.

Next, Solis is certified to IP55 weatherproofing, so it’s sealed against rain, dust, and humidity, and built with tempered materials for UV resistance and corrosion protection. You can literally hose Solis down if it gets caught in the middle of a food fight.

SUMMER BAY

As far as the chassis goes, Solis isn’t attempting to win any slimline beauty contest. That’s in part because of a very handy bay built into  the back of the TV. It allows a unit such as a RF modulator or IPTV receiver to be stored in the compartment and enjoy that IP55 security. The bay includes an AC power outlet and multiple mounting points behind a removable bay door.

While we’re talking about what’s under the bonnet, connectivity includes built-in wi‑fi, Bluetooth 5, voice control, and the webOS smart interface with HDR10+ streaming apps.

Solis can hang off the network and be under the watchful eye of OvrC Pro, Snap One’s control platform, enabling remote reboots and firmware updates. Solis also supports both direct and discreet IR control, IP and SDDP control, making it compatible with commercial automation and control systems.

GO ANYWHERE

In many ways, Solis creates its own market. When you have a TV that you know can withstand just about anything you might throw at it (sometimes literally), then you’re likely to find it in unlikely places. Hospitality is an obvious candidate – a SunBriteTV can go anywhere you find people: next to a swimming pool, in the beer garden, on the deck of a cruise ship and elsewhere. Beyond hospitality, outdoor TVs are popping up anywhere an ad hoc presentation or gathering might take place, including in outdoor staff areas, like a courtyard or next to a BBQ for example.

MORE THAN BRIGHTNESS

There are other high-brightness panels on the market but few as resistant to the elements as SunBriteTV’s Solis. That said, Solis is still a TV, it’s not designed to rotate in a portrait orientation, which excludes it from many digital signage duties. But it takes TV to places almost no other screen is likely to survive. It comes with a specialised price tag but for good reason, a SunBriteTV will be brighter, more visible and last longer than other wannabe outdoor displays.
