NEMETSCHEK ACQUIRES BLUEBEAM
Vectorworks parent company Nemetschek AG has acquired California-based software provider Bluebeam for US $100 million.
“Bluebeam is a perfect complement to our existing suite of design and BIM [building information modeling] solutions for the architecture, entertainment and landscape marketplace,” says Nemetschek Vectorworks CEO and Nemetschek AG executive Sean Flaherty. “We’re committed to open standards, and the addition of a workflow solution using the PDF standard provides another way for our users to interoperate in today’s complex design environment.”
The acquisition is expected to be finalised in October and Bluebeam will continue operating as an independent brand with its current management team – but with greater access to Nemetschek’s extensive European and Asian markets. Likewise, Nemetschek is expected to reinforce its market presence in North America.
Founded in 2002, Bluebeam has become a leading provider of PDF-based workflow solutions for digital processes and collaboration in the architecture, engineering and construction industry with more than 650,000 users worldwide. Its customers include more than 74 per cent of the top US companies in the construction industry, according to industry rankings by Engineering News-Record.
Nemetschek Vectorworks is the developer of Vectorworks software, a line of industry-specific CAD and BIM solutions that allow designers to capture, develop and communicate their ideas with accuracy and efficiency. With more than half a million users around the world, Vectorworks software is a global leader in 3D design technologies for the building and entertainment industries. Nemetschek Vectorworks was founded in 1985 and has been a part of The Nemetschek Group since its acquisition in 2000.
