The Opportunity  
The Audio Visual (AV) Operations Manager will provide strategic direction and leadership to a team of AV Technicians, ensuring the efficient delivery of AV support and services across the university. Key responsibilities include identifying process improvement opportunities, implementing best practices, and ensuring compliance with governance standards. This role involves managing budget allocations and engaging with stakeholders to optimise resource utilisation. By encouraging collaboration and mentorship, you will cultivate a culture of excellence and translate strategic vision into operational initiatives, ensuring that service delivery consistently meets expectations.

A Day in the Life of an AV Operations Manager at UTS 

  • Lead and manage a team of technical staff to deliver AV technology support and services, ensuring alignment with operational plans and service levels.
  • Facilitate Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support, diagnosing system issues, ensuring timely resolutions, and managing equipment replacements.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex issues, providing strategic direction and support to AV technicians.
  • Develop operational plans and service levels, clarifying roles and responsibilities within the team.
  • Identify and implement process improvements within the AV workflow to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage the AV Operations budget, track project costs, and allocate resources effectively while ensuring compliance with governance practices.
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand AV needs, optimize resource utilisation, and ensure service delivery meets expectations.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:  

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent knowledge gained through education, training, or experience.
  • Proven experience in leading audio-visual solution installation, maintenance services, and technical support teams.
  • Ability to forecast resource requirements to support scalability and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Strong judgment skills to manage competing interests and priorities, especially in high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage customer expectations regarding solutions and costs.
  • Strong leadership abilities to mentor teams, with experience in agile/scrum and human-centered design techniques considered advantageous.

Remuneration & Benefits

This role attracts 17% superannuation in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a continuing basis.
