DELL PACKS IN THE PIXELS
Dell has announced it is working on a new 5K UltraSharp 27-inch monitor with 5120×2880 resolution – or nearly twice the pixels of a 4K display, and seven times the resolution of a Full HD screen.
The UltraSharp 27 Ultra HD 5K is expected to be released towards the end of the year and while details are still sketchy, the company says the model offers “revolutionary screen performance for professionals requiring the highest resolution available”. The display packs the equivalent of 14.7 megapixels (compared to around 8.3MP of a standard 3840×2160 4K monitor) – that’s around 218 pixels-per-inch, which is comparable to a retina display MacBook Pro.
Dell PremierColor and anti-smudge/anti-reflective edge-to-edge glass design “provide pristine picture quality for colour-critical work”, the company says, and additional features will include two 16W integrated Harman Kardon speakers, six USB ports and a media card reader to seamlessly connect with a wide range of peripherals. Pricing is expected to be around USD $2499.
