Heads Up: Epson’s F1 Merc Partnership Runs Deep
Epson has picked a winner. The Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport team continued its dominance on the first weekend of the F1 calendar, taking out the Melbourne Grand Prix. Already with five consecutive driver and constructors’ championships under its belt, the team is looking to break all records and gun for a sixth in 2019.
To demonstrate its wares and the breadth of the partnership, Epson has integrated its products and solutions into the flagship Mercedes me Store Melbourne.
Since launching in November 2017, Melbourne has been home to Australia’s first and only Mercedes me store. One of 11 Mercedes me locations worldwide, including Munich, Hamburg, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Moscow.
A unique space where the city’s café culture meets the Mercedes-Benz lifestyle, Mercedes me Melbourne offers primo hospitality and an opportunity to experience the Mercedes-Benz brand in an environment supported by the latest in Epson technology.
One of the newest technology demonstrations currently at the Mercedes me Melbourne utilises Epson’s unique Moverio augmented reality (AR) smartglasses. By using the glasses and apps co-developed with AR specialists Appearition, it is possible to view vehicle information and customisation options in-store in a completely new way. The Moverio BT-300 smartglasses give a realtime AR experience in which the wearer can, for example, learn about what’s under the bonnet, choose colours and find out more about the safety features of the cars on display, simply by looking through the glasses.
The same Moverio headsets that Mercedes-AMG Petronas have utilised at their Brackley HQ and in their garage and hospitality operations at grands prix the world over also give visitors the chance to experience a true 360 racetrack video, from the comfort of an in-store armchair at Mercedes me Melbourne.
To further enhance the Mercedes me Melbourne customer experience Epson has installed one of their new and unique LightScene spatial design laser projection solutions in-store. Created to blend into the background with a sleek, conventional lighting design, the 2000-lumen WXGA LightScene EV-100 works as either a projector or a spotlight and is ideal for delivering experiential content, commercial signage and décor applications without distracting viewers from the subject.
The LightScene EV-100’s unobtrusive design is ideal for the Mercedes me Melbourne visual environment where minimal clutter is key. It is used to provide information, show videos, moving patterns and even projection map imagery onto objects. With the 2019 Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix around the corner it is currently deployed to augment the wall décor with race inspired imagery. The LightScene EV-100 presents Mercedes me Melbourne with a stylish and visually unobtrusive display solution, without compromising performance, versatility or reliability.
Also in the projection space Mercedes me Melbourne incorporates multiple Epson EB-L1755UNL large venue laser projectors including a unique multi-display video wall installation that features switchable glass and a fully retractable ceiling mounted hidden projector. The 15,000 lumen Epson EB-L1755UNL projector is also the main presentation and large video display at Mercedes me Melbourne, furthering and cementing its place as one of the premier venues and brand experience centres in the city of Melbourne.
