The Sun-Herald City2Surf

By

7 October 2019

The Sun-Herald City2Surf – presented by Westpac – is the world’s largest fun run. Around 80,000 runners and spectators get involved, starting in the city CBD and finishing at the iconic Bondi Beach. The P.A. People have always been a small but integral part of that substantial exercise. They provided an interfaced bespoke communications system at the event start & finish lines, with a link between ‘show callers’ at both locations to enable constant contact.

For many years, The P.A. People have provided a mix of crowd control announcement systems, spectator entertainment PA’s and a site-wide emergency radio paging system. The PAs deliver event commentary, announcements and entertainment in various locations on the route.

Working closely with event producers and suppliers, a production package to support an enjoyable event for the competitors, sponsors, broadcasters and other stakeholders is delivered. This includes provision of five integrated PA systems for the start-line portion of the event as well as interfacing between broadcast elements and other contractors to deliver audio and some vision/image elements to all parts of the start area in Hyde Park and Macquarie St. All start positions as well were provided PA as a VIP viewing area and the Finish line included nine PA systems spread over the event ‘village’ and finish line area at Bondi Beach.
