VIDEOPRO ACQUIRES WIZARD PROJECTS
Queensland-based AV provider Videopro has announced its acquisition of the Wizard Projects businesses in Sydney and Canberra. The two companies have worked closely in recent times, according to a statement to media, and the partnership “arose from an alignment of values and strategic direction, coupled with a dedication to quality outcomes”.
After a series of financial setbacks associated with the delivery of some major projects, Wizard entered into voluntary administration in July this year, trading through administration under temporary licenses. Videopro then successfully acquired the company on 31 October.
Videopro’s regional general manager, Graham Cherry, managed the business through this period. “We have been fortunate in retaining the facilities and key staff, allowing us to continue to service Wizard Projects customers and partners,” Cherry said. Videopro chief executive Ian Wright said, “Wizard had a reputation for delivering landmark projects. Coupled with Videopro’s established business model we see great potential in this acquisition.”
The future of the Wizard Projects name is still uncertain but according to the statement, there are plans to “resurrect and maintain the successful, creative elements” of the company. Founder Paul Van der Ent has joined the Videopro team, and will focus on developing business in the Canberra region.
Videopro was established in 1980 and with a staff of 150, is a leading integrator of audiovisual and automation equipment, servicing the corporate, government, education, defence, residential, broadcast and production sectors.
