Light and Sound Solutions Integration is seeking a high-performing AV Pre-Sales Engineer to take ownership of system design, tender responses, and technical solution development across a diverse portfolio of commercial and public-sector projects with a sharp focus on Education projects

This is a experienced, hands-on technical role with genuine influence over design decisions, supplier selection, and project outcomes.

The Role

As the AV Pre-Sales Engineer, you will act as the technical lead during the pre-sales and tender phase, bridging client requirements with robust, buildable AV designs.

You will work closely with the Sales Manager and delivery teams to ensure projects are technically sound, accurately scoped, and ready for seamless handover into implementation.

This role suits someone who enjoys owning designs end-to-end, engaging with clients, and contributing to complex, multi-discipline AV solutions.


Key Responsibilities

AV System Design & Technical Documentation

  • Design complete AV system solutions from concept through tender submission
  • Produce signal flow diagrams and block diagrams
  • Develop detailed equipment lists, scopes of work, and technical submissions
  • Provide technical input into major tenders and consultant-led projects
  • Ensure designs and proposals are accurate, compliant, and buildable

Pre-Sales & Client Engagement

  • Participate in client meetings, site inspections, and discovery sessions
  • Interpret client requirements and translate them into practical AV solutions
  • Support tender interviews and technical presentations
  • Clarify design assumptions and request required project information

Project Handover & Collaboration

  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and delivry teams
  • Ensure a smooth transition from pre-sales design to project delivery
  • Assist with early planning for infrastructure, power, networking, and rack layouts

Technology & Product Leadership

  • Maintain strong knowledge of current AV technologies and industry standards
  • Engage with suppliers and manufacturers on product selection and innovations
  • Contribute to internal standards, design templates, and best practices

What We’re Looking For

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience in commercial AV system design or technical pre-sales
  • Strong understanding of AV signal flow, system architecture, and networking fundamentals
  • Experience producing professional technical documentation and proposals
  • Proficiency with design and quoting tools such as:
    • D-Tools, AutoCAD, Visio, or similar
  • Confident communicator with the ability to present technical solutions to clients
  • Highly organised with strong time management and attention to detail
  • Collaborative approach with sales, engineering, and project teams

Highly Regarded

  • Experience within an AV integration or design-and-construct environment
  • Familiarity with technologies such as:
    • Q-SYS, Crestron, Extron, Dante, and similar platforms
  • Understanding of rack layouts, cable schedules, and infrastructure design
  • Experience responding to tenders and consultant documentation
  • Exposure to CRM, ticketing, or workflow platforms
