Fresh Tech Features In New Ashly Lines

Two product lines introducing new Ashly technologies are now shipping worldwide: the CA Series and FA Series Power Amplifier lines.

“Both product lines are designed specifically to meet integrators’ major needs,” said Noel Larson, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Ashly. “Further, the specific technologies we’ve developed to bring these solutions to market are truly something new.”

A promise of Ashly over the past year has been to offer a complete, end-to-end pro audio solution – from amplification to speaker. Ashly recently began shipping new speaker offerings and a new integrated product in its mXa-1502 mixer-amp.

That said, upgrading Ashly’s traditional offerings – including power amplification – with innovative technology was also a key component of the new end-to-end solution.

CA Series Power Amplifiers

The new CA Series comes in six different configurations – three two-channel models and three four-channel models – in 500-watt, 1,000-watt and 1,500-watt per channel (@ 4 ohms) versions. The CA Series can also take it down to 2 ohms without missing a beat, and without a drop-off in power. It’s possible to run up to 32 32-ohm selectable IS Series loudspeakers from a single 4-channel CA amplifier. In commercial installations CA can deliver 70V and 100V power with no reconfiguration required.

And while traditionally designed “big” amps are known as gluttons for more juice than one 20A line can put out, Ashly’s all-new, proprietary D-MAX technology brings together smart, cutting-edge amplifier design, a brand-new ultra-fast switching power supply with silicon dioxide semiconductors and diodes, and intelligent power management for best possible efficiency. This allows operation of two CA 1.54s (6,000W total each) on a single 20-amp service. That’s higher efficiency than any other currently available amp tested by Ashly, and means you don’t need to call an electrician to run twice as many amps.

The CA Series features Dynamic Power-Factor Correction, which adds a level of intelligence to power utilisation efficiency by accurately tracking fluctuations in current, rather than just sampling at the peaks.

Also, new SailFlow cooling design brings a bi-lateral air-cooling system that maintains a low operational temperature. By directing internal airflow over the areas that generate the most heat, rather than arbitrarily over the whole amp, Ashly ensures its CA Series provides reliable and stable operation, even under heavy loads.

These new technologies – combined with installer-friendly Euroblock and XLR combo connectors and stable operation down to 0.2 ohms (0.2Ω) – make the CA Series Power Amplifier line a great fit for integration in the education, house of worship, sports, retail and restaurant spaces.

FA Series Power Amplifiers

The FA Series Power Amplifier line is a prime example of power density. Two half-RU versions come in four-channel (4 x 125W) or two-channel (2 x 125W) configurations. A 1RU is also available in a four channel (4 x 250W) configuration.

These configurations allow for installation in even the tightest of spaces: under conference tables, beneath reception area counters, behind big-screen TVs, and anywhere else a larger amplifier just won’t fit. With The FA Series, no rack is no problem – the product goes exactly where it’s needed.

The FA Series also offers unique power sharing features. While a typical 125-watt per channel amp does just that – deliver up to 125 watts to each channel – the FA Series offers greater flexibility. The FA-125.2 and FA-125.4 can share between channel pairs, up to a total of 250W total per pair. That means system design with a 180W load on one channel and 70W on the other is possible. Or, if only a single channel is driven, 250W can be output to drive a heavier load such as subwoofer.

The FA Series also features cooling technologies that provide energy savings and whisper-quiet fans.
