Barco has announced two new products in its Event Master series of screen management systems: the S3-4K, a compact processor, and the EC-50, a lightweight, Event Master Toolset-compatible controller.

The company unveiled its impressive E2 image processor one year ago at InfoComm in Las Vegas. Supporting native 4K input and output, the E2 screen management system raised the bar for live event processing, as the only solution capable of managing a 4K projector blend with refresh rates of up to 60Hz.

S3-4K, the smaller version of the E2, boasts the same processing performance and image quality. Featuring 12 input channels, four program outputs, four aux outputs and two dedicated multiviewer outputs, it suits the rental and staging market, broadcast studios and mid-sized performance venues. “The S3-4K is the E2’s more compact sidekick,” explains Barco’s director of image processing, Andreas Yerocostas. “It offers unparalleled flexibility, excellent image quality and rugged durability to create a stunning live experience, all in a single compact and roadworthy enclosure.”

The Event Master series is fully modular, enabling interlinking of the E2 and S3-4K processor chassis to expand beyond the standard number of inputs, outputs and layers available. All current and future products in the series will be controlled from the same Event Master Toolset, a cross-platform GUI that provides a step-by-step approach to system configuration. Easily accessible from any Mac or Windows PC over an Ethernet connection, the Toolset makes preset programming and system management effortless.

The compact new Event Master EC-50 event controller provides instant access and situational awareness for a multitude of event applications. “As the perfect extension of the Event Master Toolset software, the EC-50 gives fingertip control over source, preset, layer and destination selection, along with a second touch-enabled display,” says Yerocostas. It is compatible with both the S3-4K and the E2 screen management systems.

The S3-4K and EC-50 are on display at booth #2529, and will be available in Q4 2015.
