MultiTek Solutions, Geelong’s leading audiovisual installation company, specialises in audiovisual, unified communications and performing arts theatre technology and we are looking for someone who is keen to learn from our high-tech team of professional AV installers.

As the company further expands, we have a full-time position available for an Audiovisual Installation Apprentice. As part of our team, you will be trained to carry out installations of high-end display systems, professional sound systems, lighting control systems, AV control systems and various other industry specific equipment.

This position requires you to be motivated, have an excellent work ethic & initiative, along with excellent communications skills, attention to detail, and a desire to learn and improve.

No experience is necessary, but basic knowledge in electronic systems, commercial or home audio visual systems and/or backstage theatre skills will be highly regarded.

This apprenticeship is for a period of four years with a three-year part time technical college attendance. This is a great opportunity for a recent school leaver or person looking for a career path into the technology industry.

The training consists of a Certificate III in Electronics and Communications, accompanied by workplace training.

PURPOSES OF THE POSITION The Apprentice Installation Technician is responsible for carrying out electronic, audiovisual, or communications work under supervision. This role focuses on the learning and training in successful installation and testing of AV systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications.

SUMMARY OF POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES The position is directly responsible to the Senior Installation Technician and Operations Coordinator for key accountabilities and the achievement of Key Performance Indicators.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership: Oversee small installation projects, ensuring they meet deadlines, budgets, and client expectations.

Business Management: Apply knowledge of sectional company operations and goals to support successful project completion.

Maintain accurate records of installation activities and report progress to the Senior Installation Technician and/or Operations Coordinator.

Technical Skills: Learn and perform basic AV system programming, as well as read and interpret block and cabling diagram drawings.

Learn and execute cabling and cable termination tasks with precision.

Learn to carry out system fault finding and necessary troubleshooting to resolve issues on-site.

Learn to install duct and conduit systems as required.

Learn to mount equipment securely following project specifications.

Learn to support programmers during the commissioning process, providing assistance as needed.

Adhere to all safety guidelines and ensure safe working conditions on-site.

Other Responsibilities: Collaborate with team members to ensure projects are completed on time and to the highest standards.

Provide feedback on installation processes to contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

OH&S RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure all work adheres to safety standards, particularly when working at heights or operating heavy equipment.

Report any hazards or incidents in accordance with company procedures.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Gain competency in reading and interpreting block and cabling drawings, as well as performing basic AV system programming.

Gain the ability to perform cabling, duct and conduit installation, equipment mounting, and system fault finding.

Able to work-at-heights and learn to operate scissor and boom lifts.

Complete Cert III in Electronics and Communications as part of the apprenticeship.

SELECTION CRITERIA Essential:

Willing to gain experience in audiovisual installation and the ability to oversee small projects.

Willing to acquire a working with children’s check.

Willing to acquire valid certifications for construction induction, working at heights, scissor lift and boom lift operation.

Manual drivers licence.

Desirable:

Experience in audiovisual or electronics.

Familiarity with industry safety standards and best practices.
